finished wpa posters

Don't Study poster comments

comments on my posters:

kate: the idea behind your poster is good I like the artwork and the contrast behind the colors, your style works well with the text and message.

jeavan: your drawn image works really well with the wpa style, also I like the way the words come into play with your idea.

poster ideas

these are my poster ideas for students to study and not to study! They are still in working progress, both ideas will probably change some what, but the main idea behind them both will not.

"Heroic Icon" War Bonds Blog

Original Image

First Image I chose

This is the first image I chose from the Internet that reminded me and also corresponded with the original poster we were given to write about. I chose this image because the "heroic" icon of solders fighting for our freedom and also fighting for America is strongly displayed. This was a major part of world history and this image is always the first that pops into my mind when this era is mentioned. The meaning behind this picture is breath taking and emotional, and to me pieces together every detail and thought behind the WPA poster above.

Second Image

This next image I chose because Uncle Sam played a huge "heroic" icon. I always remember seeing posters that had Uncle Sam saying "I want you" and pointing towards the viewer. The main focus in this image is uncle Sam but your eyes don't stay on just him, the planes flying over head and the solders on the ground fighting give it so much more depth. The relationship between this image and the two above are so strong, I had no hesitation when I started to browse the web, they all represent a very important time and instantly remind you of the meaning and monumental icon that is represented.

Third Image

This is my last image because it is a monument that was dedicated to all the lives lost and all those who fought in WW2. I chose this to be my last image because this monument is real, its not an old poster or a older image that was taken or drawn, but built to honor and remember why we have what we have today. Going from a solider holding a flag, to a picture taken of solders putting up our flag and the iconic image Uncle Sam stood for, to a live monument. All of these are what I think about when we were given this assignment. Starting off with the WPA poster kind of gives you a broad range of thought, but all of these display the same message, meaning, and iconic moment .
